Im baack

WEll! it has been a while since my last post.. and alot has happened! so lets go:

Went to Kuching, Malaysia for the KOI World Cup- Won Gold in my individual weight division (53-60kgs), Gold in the Mixed team event and Bronze in the Womens team. I won all my fights though (11 in total over two days!) which was a huge effort, i just felt my mental toughness was really on cue. I thought about each individual fight and what i had to do to win that.. and so on and so on. There were alot of Countries competing and I fought against competitors from malaysia, russia, jordan, vietnam, singapore, hong kong, iran.

It was a great trip- we were on the east island of Malaysia (the opposite to where Kuala lumpur is located)in Sarawak, so it was very tropical- awesome weather, really cheap and great food, and most importantly cheap beer!!

(Beer in the pic was AU$1 for a tallie!)

Also went to Adelaide a week later for the Australian National Karate Championships- Got 3rd in my weight div, 3rd in the open, and we came 2nd in the womens team. I felt everything went pretty much to plan- i beat the current Aus champ twice so that was awesome- I had her first round for two divisions and had a pretty bad draw because i have been out of competition for 2 yrs so i had no ranking.

Then 2 days after Nationals I went to NZ for a 10 day Snowboarding holiday in Queenstown! went last yr too.. and it was still awesome! i love NZ, so much to do, and queenstown is such an awesome little town with heaps of cool bars and AMAZING food everywhere you eat. Standout is 'The Cow' a converted cow milking shed which now makes the best pizza/pasta you will ever eat! OH and the Garlic bread is by far a must have. Its served as a whole loaf on a chopping board, oozing with garlic and parsely, which you cut up yourself- Bellisimo!

Australian Open Karate Championships

Im competing in the Aus Open Karate Championships this weekend in Melbourne.
3 Countries have entered this year (less than normal) Australia, Fiji and New Zealand (we like to smash the kiwis) ;) Im entered into the Senior Womens Sparring 55-61kg event, and the Snr Womens Open weight event. I have been preparing although I feel I could have done with another 2 weeks to fully prepare.. with Easter the weekend before, it was hard as karate and the gym were shut and I also had a Hens weekend so as you could imagine there was a bit of drinking involved!

Never the less I felt good at training last night.. and hope i can keep sharp and fast this Saturday and Sunday! Mental prep is always the hardest i think, but im feeling good about it so LETS GO GET EM!

>TUNES<

Some must have albums this week... 'Friendly Fires' self titled album, and Royksopp's newy 'Junior'.

UK band Friendly Fires released the single 'Paris' off this album which became single of the week in the UK. Awesome party cd.. Britpop, indy, punk poprock with a fair chunk of funk & electronica. A must have, and noteable tracks include: In the Hospital, Paris, Lovesick.

Nor-wee-gian duo Royksopp aka. "Flashlights.. and explosions..." song (i personally never liked that song) or 'Eple' and 'Poor Leno' from their most popular cd- Melody AM in 2001, have released their new album titled Junior. Its much more boppier and electro/pop infused than most of their past colaborations. Best tracks- #1 Happy up here, and #7 Tricky Tricky.

Enjoy

Tarantinooooo

Quentin Tarantino's new film.. death proof = Awesome!! Apprently it is meant to be a double film feature with a Robert Rodriguez film called Planet Terror.. will definately be checking that one out too! They have based them on the old "Grindhouse" '(a downtown movie theater in disrepair since its glory days as a movie palace known for "grinding out" non-stop double-bill programs of B-movies)'.

Soundtrack will be well worth getting your hands on too! (of course not by Downloading with a Torrent or anything like that) ;)

TZU & Noosa

Well last weekend I went to see TZU at the Prince of wales in St Kilda with some gf's (see pics off my iphone). They were Absolutely Amazzzzinng! once they finally came on stage at like 11.45pm.. they went for 2hrs straight only stopping to change into white suits to imitate boy bands.. very entertaining and sounded great. They def exceeded my expectations! So a must if u get a chance (although they said this was their last concert for 1yr while some of them go travelling or just have a break).

Just got back from a weekend in Noosa (where i was born) it was great to get away although the rainy weather prevented me from working my tan! :( trained with my old karate coach all Saturday.. and learnt the Chinese Fan as a weapon! that was good fun, and had a biggish night Sat for my mates bday.

Till next time.. over and out

First Post

Hello! Well I have created this Blog so I can join the blogging phenomenon (Spelling?!) and I guess to keep some info that I want to be able to consolidate into one spot, and to share it because someone, somewhere, somehow, MIGHT be a tad interested in the same crap that I am!

I will probably be writing about SPORT (karate, boxing, snowboarding etc) useless things, MUSIC, FOOD, SHOPPING as per the interests in my profile, and whatever else happens to come up!

Enjoy :)
